Elden Ring: Romina, Saint of the Bud Boss Guide

Apr-16-2025 PST

Romina, a grotesque hybrid of a centipede, scorpion, and woman, is a tough boss in Elden Ring, located in the Shadow of the Erdtree. Her powerful attacks and the threat of scarlet rot make her a formidable opponent. Here's how to tackle her and come out victorious.

Where to Find Romina, Saint of the Bud

You'll encounter Romina in the Church of the Bud, situated in the Rauh Ancient Ruins. To reach her:

1. From the Storehouse, First Floor Site of Grace in the Shadow Keep, take a left to find an elevator.

2. The elevator takes you to a fleshy jar-filled area with a long bridge leading to the West Rampart Site of Grace.

3. Romina is located at the back of this area, up an elevator near the Grand Stairway Site of Grace.

4. If you see scarlet rot in the room with red Kindred of Rot, you're in the right place. Climb the central staircase and defeat Hornsent if he invades. From there, the Church of the Bud is located beyond, where you'll find a fog door leading to Romina.

How to Beat Romina, Saint of the Bud

Romina has a set of brutal attacks, but she has weaknesses you can exploit to win:

1. Scarlet Rot Protection:

• Have Elden Ring Items Preserving Boluses or the Flame Cleanse Me incantation to mitigate scarlet rot. If her weapon glows pink, she's about to inflict rot.

• Equip Dragoncrest Greatshield Talisman or use Boiled Prawns (available from Blackguard Big Boggart) to reduce physical damage.

• Max out your Scadutree level for extra defense and offense. Aim for level 13, which proved effective.

2. Dodge and Attack Strategy:

• Romina's centipede head, scorpion tail, and polearm make her attacks tricky to dodge. The best strategy is to stay close to her midsection and roll into her to avoid most attacks.

• Airborne Attack: When she leaps into the air and flashes pink, dodge forward.

• Spin Attack: She will spin twice in the air with her weapon- roll left or back.

• Rolling Attack: When she curls into a ball and rolls toward you, dodge right or back just before she leaps.

• Butterfly Aura: Below 50% health, Romina summons butterflies. Roll back and run before the butterflies explode.

3. Status Effects:

• Frostbite is highly effective on Romina. Bleed buildup also works well.

• You can summon Dryleaf Dane to help stagger Romina and draw her aggression, though his damage output is low.

Melee Strategy

Melee builds have an advantage in staying close to Romina. By dodging into her for most of her attacks, you can land quick hits. Here's what you should focus on:

• Strength Builds: Use heavy attacks, especially charged ones, to stagger Romina.

• Dexterity Builds: Focus on applying status effects like bleed.

• Be Mindful of AOE Attacks: Romina's wide-reaching attacks can easily hit you if you're not careful.

If you summon Spirit Ashes, watch out for her aggressive swings, as even if she's targeting your summon, her wide attacks can still hit you.

Ranged Strategy

For ranged builds, Romina's fast pace makes it hard to keep a distance. Consider these tips:

• Use melee-range sorceries like Carian Sword or Dragonclaw to fight at a distance while staying out of Romina's immediate range.

• Summon Dryleaf Dane or a different Spirit Ash to distract Romina, allowing you to focus on casting spells like Adula's Moonblade or frost-based attacks for high damage.

• Be aware of her quick targeting: Romina can change targets fast, so keep your distance when casting.

Cheese Strategy

For a more tactical approach, you can cheese the fight:

• Use Dryleaf Dane or another summon to draw her attention. When Romina focuses on them, you can cast powerful spells like Comet Azur.

• If you have Borealis's Mist and the Radagon Icon talisman, you can lower your casting speed, cast Borealis's Mist, and retreat to get a few melee hits in when Romina is distracted by your summon.

This strategy may take some patience, but it's effective for players looking for an easier way to deal with Romina.

Conclusion

Romina, Saint of the Bud, is a challenging but manageable boss in Elden Ring. To prepare or buy Elden Ring Runes, summoning helpful Spirits, and understanding her attack patterns, you can defeat her without too much trouble. Make sure to stay close, dodge into her attacks, and exploit status effects like frostbite or bleed to make the fight go smoother.

Good luck, and remember- defeating Romina brings you closer to advancing the Shadow of the Erdtree storyline. Once she's down, don't forget to check out ELD.gg guide for Messmer, the Impaler, if you haven't already defeated him!
